Agadir, Morocco

Dream Surf Morocco is located in a surfer village called Tamraght in southwestern Morocco in Souss Massa region. The local culture in this area of Morocco is Berber (or Tamazight). Tamraght is within 15km (9mi) to the north of Agadir City and is located between two other villages: Banana village and Taghazout. It is a traditional fisherman’s village on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean near the foot of the Atlas Mountains that gives a unique backdrop for a complete surf trip in Morocco.

Paradise Valley

Paradise Valley is a section of the Tamraght River valley in the Moroccan High Atlas mountains. It is located approximately 20 km north of Agadir. Once a week we try and take a group off to Paradise Valley. It is a 45 min drive to the mountains behind Aourir. Once we have parked up, we do a 15 minute walk into the valley where you come across a series of lush rock pools in a beautiful oasis. Normally we have a Tajine up there, cooking whilst we are off swimming and doing the rock jumps. Then on the way back we stop off at an argan cooperative where the local ladies show you how the oil and creams are all made!

Souk El Had

Agadir’s authentic souk of “Souk el Had” is where locals go to shop and where tourists go to experience a little of local life. Although not as atmospheric as the souks of Fez, Tangier, Marrakech, and other old cities, it’s one of the best places around Agadir to pick up traditional Moroccan goods and see how local residents go about their daily affairs.Various gates lead into the large souk, and it’s easy to get lost if you don’t pay attention. A vast variety of goods are sold on the stalls and in the stores. Browse fresh produce in the fruit and vegetable section, and inhale the heady aromas in the spice area. It’s often possible to get a good deal on saffron, purchase diverse trinkets and souvenirs. Other goods include clothing, footwear, accessories, toys, household furnishings, jewellery, carpets, and more.

Weather

The atmosphere in our village is very relaxed with more than 300 sunny days per year. The weather is very convenient with average high temperatures between 20 and 26°C, and low temperatures between 7 and 18°C (Weather).

Tamraght has more than 4km (2.5mi) of golden sand beach with several surf spots and amazing waves to learn how to surf. There are more than 10 top surf breaks within 14km from our village. To summarise, the area is the ideal place to practice and show-off your skills.

There is always somewhere to surf, with a NW and SW facing coastline we are blessed with multiple options whatever are the conditions. The summer months (April–October) see small to medium swells with surfing mostly taking place on the beaches and reefs on the more exposed north west coast, this is great time for anyone looking for fun, uncrowded warm water surf.
During the winter months (October–March) the waves that have made Morocco famous come to life and world class surf and leg achingly long rides are a everyday occurrence.
